Description
We mentor and review your demo or skills reel
Build your reel, website and promote them
The gateway to getting a job (or a better job) in the visual effects industry is your demo reel.
Build a better reel
In this workshop your mentor will review your current demo reel and offer you tips for improvement. You will receive documentation outlining the key points for cutting a good demo reel along with several examples of good ones that you can use as guides. You and your mentor will review the guidelines together and discuss how they might be applied to your demo reel. If you wish, you can purchase ShotKits™ to build out your demo reel. This course can be done using any compositing software and does not require the use of Nuke.
Refresh your website
Your mentor will also review your current web site or, if you don’t have one, coach you on how to design a good one. You will receive documentation outlining the key points for building a job-winning website plus links to several excellent vfx compositing artist websites that you can use for inspiration. You and your mentor will review the guidelines together and study the example websites to see what is best applied to your case. While we can’t build your website for you, we will provide you with a list of excellent and inexpensive website providers that make it very easy for you to build your own.
Drive results with networking
A reel shows what you’ve done, and a website or channel is where you tell employers who you are – your social network is how you get their attention and help them find you when they need to fill a job that matches your skills. In the third part of our workshop we consult on your social network goals and strategy to help you develop a plan of action.
Now Available– Media Shotkits™
Want additional shots for your reel? You may use work you build using any of our ShotKits™. Each ShotKit™ contains a sample movie and the raw elements. You can also use the raw elements to show how you composited your shots. ShotKits™ are available in our FX Ecademy ProShop.
